How do you know when your razor is dull?

I have a gillette fusion 5 blade razor and was wondering when it starts to get dull. I've been using it for about 1.5-2 months and I shave every other day. Should I change my razor?|||Yes. When the hair starts to pull more, change it.|||When you use more toilet paper on your face than on yer backside.|||i actually change blades after i use them two or three times. for that reason i use electric shaver most days of the week.

What are some ways to prevent razor burn & keep the hair from growing back so fast?

I hardly have time to shave so i guess since i don't shave everyday my legs get razor burn a lot easier especially in places that HURT!. what are some tips to help prevent razor burn and keep my hair from growing back so fast!

|||Honestly just wax, it does not hurt, the movies blow it out of portion. Then you don't have to worry about it for 6 weeks or if you have some money saved up laser your hair off, it is expensive but then you never have to worry about shaving again!!

How to treat razor burns with home products?

How to treat razor burns with home products?

I shaved an area near my stomach without applying shaving cream before hand and now I have red dots that can be irritated when I move around. They look like acne but I'm sure its just the effects of dry skin and shaving without using cream. How can I treat this? Right now I'm using Cetaphil on it more than twice a day to hopefully reverse the dryness.|||You can use some facial cream, or if you really want to be "green", i think honey can help you with that. Usually, you can apply honey to any kind of burns.|||It is like a rash.. Those should not be zits. If they have heads pop them, then apply triple antibiotic. If they do not still apply triple antibiotic. If you do not have shaving cream you should use conditioner...it gives the same affect.

Apply triple antibiotic after shaving too. I do and NEVER get bumps. Also petroleum jelly is a good but messy lotion/|||savlon, e45 cream

What's the best way to clean a shaving razor?

I need some kind of substance to clean the blades of my shaving razor. I have experimented over the past few months, and when my razor head gets about 2 months old, my acne REALLY gets bad. But after 3 months, and I get a new razor, my skin clears up. So, I've figured out that it must be the razor head and how dirty it is. I do rinse it with water after every stroke. I don't do anything different, and I use the same shaving cream and all that.|||I read that if you put a little Vodka in the razor cap then it keeps it sharper longer and the alcohol will kill germs.|||You need to change your razor or the blade every couple of days. Yes you need to rinse it in water after each couple of strokes. Change the blade or the razor after a couple of days as it is getting full of germs by not changing it often enough. Serious bacteria is growing your razor.|||you should replace the blade every 3-5 uses, because it starts getting dull anyway and there are lots of germs|||I suggest rinsing with water and use an old tooth brush to brush off unwanted left shaven hair...no substances required, these may affect your acne even more.|||Your must not be using your razor everyday if they are lasting up to 3 months... You only need to be using the razor about 6 - 8 weeks... besides, you just said that your acne gets bad after 2 months. HELLO... throw it away. If you continue to use the same razor over acne, you are just spreading it around... it's just like a makeup sponge, you have to change it out after an acne outbreak. Don't use the same razor for more than 2 months (MAX).

How much will razor combing affect my hair?

I have thick, wavy hair and when I wear it down, it looks good for a few hours, but after that the thickness gets the best of it and it starts to poof out. I want to have my hair thinned, but would razor combing it do the job well, or should I just stick to layers?|||I have the same problem! My friend razor combs her hair and it looks nice. I've heard that it can give you split ends faster, but if you regularly get your hair cut it shouldn't be much of a problem. Have you tried thinning scissors? You could just stick to layers and invest in some thinning scissors. If you do that, be careful with how much you thin!

How to prevent razor bumps from shaving down there?

I shaved my pubes for the first time. I didn't use any shaving cream I just started shaving. What can I do to prevent the razor bumps and maybe cut accidents? Thanks!|||I read in a magazine that you should stay in the shower for a while so that the warm water can open the pores and soften the hair (but that's pretty much for whatever area you're shaving, arm pits, legs, etc.)

But you need to exfoliate there, too. And after you get out of the shower, put an antibacterial cream on it to keep it from getting infected (which is what causes razor bumps).

And USE SHAVING CREAM!|||The first time is the worst and you will get razor burn no matter what. It gets better as your skin gets used to it. This is a new thing and your body has to cope. Somethings to help for the afterwards to soothe the skin include lotion, deoderant, ect. Shaving cream never helped me. Another way you can help is the angle you shave from. If you shave down, that helps alot :) Hope i helped.|||you just have to get used to it. if it still occurs after a month, maybe you should just wax it.|||Get in the swamp water. This will soothe your parts

How often do you need to change the Bic Soleil razor heads?

I accidentally bought the Soleil razor heads instead of getting the Venus razor heads. So I bought the Soleil razor but it doesn't specify how long I can/should use each of the heads for. Usually I use the Venus razor heads for about 3 months (it takes about 3 months for the blades to get dull).

Please let me know.|||When the blade is wearing down orif it gets rusty and its not shaving as well then you should change it. Maybe about after 7-10 times that you have shaved your legs.|||I betcha the same amount of time. When it starts pulling your skin. Venus is triple blade, right? Is that what the soleil is? Then 3 months it is!

What is the best shaving cream to use for razor lines?

I'm a Barber and as a touch up for a client's haircut, I'll go over my client's hairline with a razor or give them a neck shave, but what shaving cream is there that would make the hair come off easily. I use Gilette and it sometimes dries up. Thanks in advance.|||Try Aveeno shave gel. It's the best I've ever used. It gives a much closer and smoother shave than anything else.

How do you shave your body with a regular razor?

Like everything. Even how to use shaving cream if necessary.

Also, would just shaving your chest and stomach look screwed up?

How would you shave your body with an electric razor?|||Do you really need to ask this question? Then ask you dad.|||Go for the waxing on the back and chest. If shaving the nether regions, use a safety razor, please.|||My husband uses his electric razor it doesn't give him ingrown hairs. Take care and god Bless|||are you nuts . i can say with a regular razor

if you dont have that many hairs well why dont you just pluck them out

How do I get rid of razor burn on my bikini area?

Every time i shave "down there" i get razor burn. Its so bad that i end up with tons of ingrown hairs. Its very uncomfortable, and embarrassing. I feel like i've tried everything to keep myself from getting the razor burn, and so i'm pretty desperate. Is there anything that can help me?|||My suggestion is to stick it out right now, exfoliate the area with a slightly rough sponge when you shower to avoid in grown hairs, and once the hair grows back, wax. I know it sounds painful, but believe it or not, it's not that bad. And, after you wax, when the hair starts to grow back weeks later, it grows in softer and with less hair growth. The more you wax, the less painful it is, and the less often you'll have to do it. Waxing is awesome. And actually, the bikini area is less painful than waxing your legs or underarms. Underarms are the most painful to wax.|||don't wax! use magic shaving powder, I've used this for five years and have had no razor burn or itchiness when my hair grows back. you can find it at cvs or rite aid in the shaving aisle (mens shaving). I'm 35 years old and love this.

How much is a good price for a purebreed razor edge pit bull?

The pitbulls have there papers, shots, and have chips installed. They are purebreed razor edge. What is a good asking price for them.|||It depends...

Are they health certified? How many generations do u have on the sire and mom? Do u have a health guarantee? How old are they? What shots do they have?? Do they have a champion bloodline? All this stuff matters.

I have an American Pitbull Terrier and he's papered and had a 1 yr health guarantee and the mom and dad we're also health certified and we have 10 generations on his dad and 5 on his mom and his dad's great grandfather and grandfather, is a champion. The breeder was only selling them for $1000, which is VERY cheap, but he's not in it for the money and knew all the people who was taking the dogs. He had them sold before they we even born but we got ours free because he was a friend. Real breeders dont really make that much money. His dog had 8 pups and after all the maternity vet visits and bills and food and shots and the guarantees, he only MADE $200. And I know he wasn't lying because I saw all the vet bills. He had a few ultrasounds done when mom was pregnant and we have a copy of the pictures.

My dog is a little over 1 and is really healthy and still sees his mom n dad regularly.

What is a good way to get rid of razor bumps on your pubes?

I'm 13 so I cant tell my mom to take me to get a bikini wax plus I dont want any pain. I already shave in the bikini area so i want to kno if there are creams that i can buy for razor bumps. Can anyone give me any brand names that i can buy?? It doesnt have to be a cream just something that is not expensive and guarenteed to work.|||“Razor bumps” are very common and will go away on their own within a week or two. Razor bumps are a form of razor burn that generally only occurs in the pubic area or the upper thighs. There's literally nothing you can do to make them go away any faster, but applying lotion or baby oil can help with the itchiness. Razor bumps disappear after the hair penetrates the skin, and depending on how fast your pubic hair grows, this generally takes between 3 days and 2 weeks. To prevent razor bumps in the future, if you want to trim yourself, use an electric sideburn trimmer or haircut "clippers" with the smallest guide on it. It will shave you virtually as close as a razor, but won't cause razor bumps or ingrown hairs. And it's not gross and shouldn’t be embarrassing. Just about everyone has experienced this as one point or another, so it’s nothing to worry about.|||Get extra thick shave gel like "Bikini zone" anti bump shave gel from the grocery store.

Or use Neosporin first aid cream (This is what adult film stars use when they shave)

After shaving - lotion the area right away, 12 and 24 hours afterwards. Use special bikini area lotion (also sold by Bikini Zone at your local drug store) or use un-scented hand-lotion like Lubriderm. Try to not use perfumed lotions as they sometimes use sugar which will give you a yeast infection.|||Get mom to buy you one of the little battery powered safety razors at walmart, they don't case ingrown hairs so bad.

How do you get rid of razor burn?

I recently got really bad razor burn, and I think it's because of my dull razor. How do I get rid of it quickly?|||i've heard milk helps..i don't know if it works, but i heard it somewhere...|||You can buy lotions or "bump stop" in the shaving section of a store, where you'd buy your razors. Just look around there and you'll find something.|||I don't know about getting rid of it, but to prevent it use a sharp razor, don't go against the hair, and use a shaving aloe for sensitive skin or something of the sort. The best suggestion I can offer is to let it air out, and don't irritate it any more.|||If you find out, could you tell me..?

How do I tell the difference between acne and razor bumps?

Sometimes I cut my hair very short with clippers in the lower back of my head, and it always gets red and some zits form in the area. Are these razor bumps or just pimples?

I use an andis t-outliner clipper which cuts it almost bald.|||This is gonna sound stupid, but try it. Zits are a skin condition from a combination of age, diet, skin care. sometimes stress, etc. Stop clipping for a while, about 10 to 14 days. Try not to change anything else. If you still have the problem, it's zits. (If you don't get them anywhere else, that's one strange set of zits!)

I'm 46 and get zits. Only on the back of my head and above my ears where my helmet rubs all the time. (I ride a bike all the time. Don't own a car.) I pop them in the morning, jump in the shower and use an antibacterial soap, then put St. Ives on the spots. No pain, and you have to look close to see the spots.

By the way, do you wear a hat all the time? Or possibly a helmet? In a hot, humid, climate? (I'm in Florida. That's probably why I get the skin trouble.)

Don't let anyone kid you. I was in the service and saw some people that never shaved before. They had what the medics called "bumps". Well, when them suckers broke open, they spewed pus like a waterfall! Bumps are caused by an ingrown hair. Zits are just irritated or infected pores.|||Razor bumps dont spew white mucus|||It could be either or even a mix of both.

If the bumps are small, rash-like and hard then it's most likely razor burn. If the bumps are varying sizes, 'poppable', and filled with white/yellow fluid, they're most likely zits.

Try not cutting the area for a short while and see if the bumps return or not. If it turns out to be razor burn, use a good calming lotion with aloe vera to help heal the area. If it seems morel ikely that the bumps are zits, make sure you keep the scissors you're using clean, change your pillowcases often and use an anti-bacterial body or face wash on the area.

What can you use before or after shaving bikini area to prevent razor bumps?

I hate frickin' razor burn!!! How can I prevent it? Is there something I can use before shaving, after shaving, or both? And why do I only get razor burn "there"? I never get it on my legs or armpits.|||no one ever believes me on this one, but just trust me. after you get out of the shower, or after you shave, put a thin layer of deodorant on the area with your finger. think about it, when's the last time you got razor burn in your armpit???

It works like a charm... trust me.|||This TOTALLY WORKED!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

usually it helps.|||Exfoliate with a scrub before shaving. Be sure to use a really creamy shave gel - NOT SOAP - and a new razor (razor burn often follows shaving with a dull blade). After shaving, use a toner with salicylic acid to prevent ingrown hairs (do this for a couple days). If you still get bumps, use a hydrocortizone cream (like Cortaid) to bring the inflammation down.

What is the best type of razor to use when first starting to shave?

Like an electric razor or a regular razor?|||mach 3,

half the cost of the fusion

and twice as good|||Razor isn't as important as making sure to use shaving cream. Even a good razor and no shaving cream can give you razor burn which is no fun especially during summer. That being said I would suggest a good regular one like Gillette then you can switch it up as you start getting used to shaving and see what you like the best.|||I just started shaving. But it really has to do with preference... How beneficial is it to start using a straight razor?

Hello guys,

I have been interested in getting myself a straight razor since it seems to be an interesting and more traditional way to shave. I am currently finding Gillette disposable blades far too expensive.

I would be interesting in hearing the advantages/disadvantages. If it helps to let you know, I am 16.

Any tips on shaving would be appreciated as well.

Thanks!|||That method of shaving was traditional at one time %26amp; there was no choice unless you wore a bushy beard.

You will need a leather strap to keep it sharpened %26amp; a mug of shaving soap if you plan to make it all as authentic as possible.

There are no safeguards to prevent you from knicking your skin during shaving, like coated blades to make it glide over the skin. You must allow extra time to shave so you don't show up at school or work looking like your face has been thru a war zone.

Shaving should be an 'art' - not a 'chore.'|||It definitely should be cheaper. I remember when twin blade disposable razors were introduced (I still use an metal handle Atra razor but buy the off-brand cartridges which are much, much less than the gillette brand) and since then the number of blades has increased...3...4...5. I tried a 4 blade once and didn't notice any significant difference, but I notice the huge price difference.

Another option is to use electric razors. I've tried different ones and find that one with rotary blades seem to give the best result EXCEPT on my neck whick gets easily nicked by it.

(In case you're wondering, I'm not Angie. She asked me to answer this.)

How to avoid razor burn when shaving the downstairs?

every time i shave downstairs i end up with the red itchy razor burn. how can i avoid this?|||You need to use a fresh razor and a good shave cream (Aveeno makes a really good one). Shave with the growth of the hair and never shave the same area more then once. Make sure you have soaked the area with warm water before shaving (it opens the pores and softens the hair). After wards, something like baby powder will help with any itchiness.|||There's a product called Amphora that is made for razor burn, a blue liquid that is antiseptic and soothing. How to reduce razor bumps on legs?

Whenever I shave (using a lotion for sensitive skin and a 5 blade Venus razor) I still manage to get tiny, unsightly red bumps. Any tips for getting this to stop for smooth, silky legs?|||I often get the same prob, I've found the more blunt/used the razor is, the less red bumps- the hair shafts aren't as sharp and don't cause as much irritation... and after shaving, instead of using a water based lotion, i sometimes use an oil-based, such as pure Vaseline- only in very small amounts tho, last thing you want is to feel greasy. Good luck|||try to use new or almost new blades everytime. try not to press hard just let it glide gently across your skin. afterwards try applying a thick creamy moisturizing lotion, something not too perfumeee. How does Gillette razor color strip work?

I use a Gillette Fusion Razor. It has that blue or teal strip on the top, which is apparently supposed to indicate when you should change the blade. How does this work?|||It looks like that there is a thin layer of blue plastic. As you shave, it just wears it away. The more you shave , the more it wears away. Once enough has been worn away so that it is all white, they assume that you have shaved enough for the blade to be dull

My razor has this strip too. As the strip turns white I find I need to press harder for it to shave well :( but it still works ok for a while. I think you still need to pay attention to how well you razor is working. But it is nice to have a reminder.|||It turns white when you need to change it.

How do I preserve the battery on my motorola razor?

I charged my phone fully and now it has one notch of power. I don't know what setting I should put it on so I was wondering if anyone could help. It is a motorola razor with verizon wireless. Can anyone give me suggestions on battery life?|||You can turn the back light off %26amp; switch to lowest contrast.Go to settings--%26gt;display--%26gt;look for the options in there|||That sounds wrong.

One notch of power is not what I consider fully charged. I own a Razr V3 from Cingular and when I leave it on for a long time, fully charging it takes overnight to give me full battery.

Which version of RAZR do you have? There are more than 5 versions last I checked.

Not sure about battery drain, but if the "mini cellphone icon with the flashing arrows" is always displayed, that could kill a battery really quick, so find out what is using the data features at decide which is more important - that program using the data features, or the battery life.

There has to be an easier way to transfer this personal data. Can I take a UBS cord and plug it from the phone to the PC and transfer the data?|||Your Razr should have Bluetooth capabilities. You can purchase a Bluetooth connector (put it into a USB port) and transfer that way, phone to PC. No need to buy additional software -- it comes with the connector.|||There are data kits you can purchase for your phone to hook in through a USB port on your computer. I am starting to get razor burn really bad, and im not sure what to do about it, its really embrassing. If anyone has any ideas, please help me! :)thankss!|||Do:

Use a mild exfoliant that contains salicylic acid daily. This will slough off old, dead surface skin that otherwise could clog up your pores and limit oxygen to the effected areas. Do not scrub razor-burned skin. (ow!)

Use aloe vera or tea tree oil creams and sprays. They will speed up your recovery and soothe that raw feeling that accompanies razor burn.

Shave carefully until it heals, switch to a razor with a single-blade or wire guard for a while. The shave won鈥檛 be close, but you won鈥檛 be slicing your skin up before it can heal either.

If you continue shaving, combine these steps with the preventative steps in the next section.

Do not:

Use any products containing alcohol - it will dry out your skin and increase irritation.

Scrub or scratch razor burned skin. It will increase irritation and the risk of infection.

Apply colognes or perfumes to razor burned skin.|||change your blade|||Lots of lotion!|||Same here, i just use rubbing alcohol and in like ten minutes my bumps are gone! I hope it works for you!|||Use a new blade each time, use a very moisturizing shaving cream (I like Edge and have used it for decades!!!), and if you still have such delicate skin that you get a rash, have some 98% pure aloe vera gel handy to put on it. Aloe works on any type of "burn" including carpet burns, sun burn, skinned knees, and razor burn.

** peace **

PS Don't use the kind of aloe that has ingredients in it for "sunburn relief". Use the pure kind. You can get it at Walgreen's, Whole Foods, etc.

What is the best way to get rid of razor bumps over night?

I have razor bumps pretty bad in my pubic area. What's the easiest and fastest way to get rid of them and possibly make sure that they don't return?|||Those are ingrown hairs,

Use tweezers and pull the hair growing out of the bump, if it gets sore put a hot cloth on it, and if its irrated throughout the day then wear loose clothing or put baby or talc powder on it

How do you get rid of razor irritation?

I switched to a "non-razor irritation shave cream", and it worked for a while, but it has re-appeared. I do prefer razors over an electric. Any tips?|||If you mean razor bumps, there is a cream at wal-mart you can get or any drugstore. I forgot the name of it but my sister used some and she said it worked out great. I'm sure if you look for any type of razor bump cream anywhere, you would get the same results.

What kind of razor do you use for shaving?

I need to get rid of the red razor bumps by tomorrow so if anyone had any suggestions for that too that would be rad.|||My advice to you would be LEAVE IT ALONE. How do you get rid of and prevent razor burn?

I get razor burn on my legs alot and it makes my legs itch and hurt. So please tell me how I prevent?|||You can try some aloe or other after-shave lotion to help sooth your skin and prevent razor burn.

Are you using enough lotion when shaving in the first place? also don't shave too fast, take your time. Use short, light pressure, strokes when you shave. And what I mean by that is don't run the razor up your leg in one continuous stroke, you'll be more likely to nick yourself and/or cause razor burn.

Also, you might want to consider, in areas that might receive extra friction, like between your upper thighs from walking...to shave with the grain of the hair. Granted it won't be as smooth, but you reduce the chance of ingrown hairs (red itchy bumps) by a ton!

Which electric razor do you find gives you the closest shave with the least skin irritation?

But remember, shaving cream is really the best way to prevent razor burn.|||I don't know what brand it is, I think its an off brand triple blade mine works really good|||every razr gets dull after 5-8 shaves roughly, depending on the hair thickness [e.g leg hair is thicker thus the blades get dull faster]

razor burn is terrible. results in irritated, sensitive skin when there is no lubricant during shaving. i would recommend the obvious shaving lotion for women as it is very thick and fluffy and provides excellent lubrication. however, a cheaper alternative is hair conditioner.

shave slowly and in one direction. i recommend following the hair growth but against the hair growth gives you a cleaner shave, although it irritates the hair follicles more.

also, do not apply any sort of chemical after shaving unless it's a soothing lotion [e.g aloe vera based products] to calm your skin.

i use venus from gilette and have never thought twice. they have good blades and an indicator strip which is very good as it tells you it's time to change blades when it fades, reducing the risk of shaving w/ dull razors. [bad for your skin as you need to shave a particular area of skin many times when your razor is dull, stripping your skin of its protection.]

i have been shaving for about 7 years, tried almost ever female shaver on the market from schick to disposables and i've never reverted.|||Shick quarto for women and Venus embrace|||I've found that men's razors are usually the best bet... I've used Schick Quattro. The blades are so close to each other that no pressure is applied to your skin as it shaves, therefore there is less likelihood of cuts or irritation.

However, sometimes these razors can be a little bit costly, especially the blades.. I usually result to being stingy and getting cheap disposable razors anyway... I just make sure to have a good lather of body wash on my legs, for a better glide and closer shave... and being extra careful around sensitive areas...

How do you avoid getting razor bumps in the bikini area?

I have a horrible problem getting razor bumps in my bikini area which is a big problem because I love to swim. I have tried shaving with soap and water, shaving cream, conditioner, etc, but still get the bumps. I have tried waxing and sugaring, nare, bikini zone, electric razors that shave and pluck out the hair. No matter what I try I get the bumps or bruising, either right away as with waxing or as soon as the hair starts growing (a day after shaving). It looks disgusting and make me feel so self conscious.|||Try to use a thin layer of conditioner to shave with. Besure to hold the skin super tight and try to make minimal strokes with the razor.

I know you said you already tried waxing..did you have it done professionally or DIY?? Try to have it professionally done, it maybe a little embarrassing and hurts a tad but its totally worth it. If you go to a good place you should have little to no irratation.|||I used to have this problem. Not anymore. I use oil to shave. I prefer coconut oil but olive oil will work well also. Use a sharp blade and shave with very, very, very slow strokes. Try it. It can't make it any worse!|||porn stars use oatmeal soap to shave with|||waxing works best for me. Shaving really gets the bumps into full gear. but I use this stuff called "tend skin" google that phrase and it'll come up.

PS: I'm a guy (yes I get "it" waxed. %26lt;g%26gt; and I'm str8 too.)|||I do a couple of things to avoid the bumpy problems.

How can I keep a razor blade sharp?

I shave with a disposable razor, but am getting fed up of paying for new blades and want to save money. Is there any way I can keep a disposable razor sharp, or a device available in the UK which will sharpen disposable blades?|||I find disposable razors are very poor, the standard 3 blade replaceable blade type seem to last the longest but the supply in major supermarkets seems to dry up when a new, more expensive model comes out.The old double edged blades were resharpenable,as were the old cut throat type. The standard method of sharpening I use for carving chisels, plane blades and card mount cutting blades is a leather strop and diamond honing paste from Axminster Power tools.Their on line catalogue is good, but their full catalogue is well worth having for it's comprehensive information sections. It is real tool enthusiasts porn!!!!!|||If there was do you think that Gillette would allow it onto the market? If there is such a product I think you would spend far too much time trying to sharpen the blade and then it would blunt at the first application and leave you cut and bruised.|||No, I'm afraid you'll have to keep buying new ones, disposable razor blades aren't made from anything quality, also for the sake of hygiene, keep replacing you blades every other month.|||There used to be a little gadget made from glass called " The Lillicrap Hone" which could be used to sharpen razor blades. How common is it for people to get razor burn, ingrown hairs or irritaion after shaving your bikini area?

Just wondering if it is common amoungst people or not to experience painful ingrown hairs or razor burn or whatever.

Is there any way to get less inflammation or get rid of it completely other than waxing?

thanks.|||YES! Very common, I was told to exfoliate the area gently first. You can buy a mild soap with a sugar or seed ingredient and use it to wash the area well, then shave with a thick gel to creme shaving creme. If you dont want to use a different soap then use a loofa sponge or exfoliating cloth.|||They are common but if you want to stick to shaving make sure you do it in the direction the hair is growing to.

I started using hair removal cream ( my favorite is by Sally Hansen) which you can get at walmart i think or a family dollar. It smells bad and burns just a little but after you shower the smell goes away and in order to not get irritated skin use baby powder.|||Sooo common. Ugh, I hate it. I use Skin Tend from Sephora, and it gets rid of a lot of the irritation.

But I'm so sick of it, I'll probably switch to waxing. I think shaving it completely would be wayy to much of a hassle... and it won't last as long|||Yes I used to get it all the time. Then I bought shaving gel and a razor with 5 blades and it went away.|||very common thats why you gotta use shaving cream

What size razor heads do you use to shave hair?

I've always had long hair and my uncle just shaved it for me for the first time. I'm really confused because he said my hair was at a 1 and then my aunt said next time I should grow it out and shave it when it's at a 3. I know the number depends on what attachment you use on the head of a razor but what do 1 and 3 mean? Is it centimeters? What does a 3 hair cut look like? A link to a picture would be helpful! Much thanks!|||Hi I'm Pedro and I work for Gillette. As you may know Braun is one of our brands. The numbers you mentioned just refers to the length of hair. So 3 just means when you hair reaches a length of approximately 3 millimeters.

I hope this helps, but if you have any more questions, get back in touch on ukgillette.im@pg.com|||well, if you want to look like you got no hair like i do , just use a bic razor or one like it maybe a mach 3 will do good to , i shave my head about every 3 days

What kind of men's electric razor is best for extremely tough hair?

I am looking to buy my husband a great electric razor for his birthday. He has very tough, coarse facial hair that most razors we've bought can't handle. It takes him a while to shave, and he usually can't get every hair.

Also, is foil or rotary better? Would anybody recommend lotions or creams to softer the hair, or something. Obviously, I don't know much about this stuff, so I need help! I want to get him the best razor out there so he won't have to buy another one for a long time.|||He probably needs something with a trimmer to first trim the hair down to a stubble before the razor can actually shave it. A rotary cuts at a different angle as you move it around so the hair is shaped less like a chisel but more like a point thereby avoiding razor burn. Try to get your husband started on shaving with a blade, it's a lot closer and you have much better control.|||You'll end up spending around $300 or more so I hope you realise that. Electric razors suck, they do a horrible job compared to regular blade razors.

You can't really soften the hair. He's stuck with what he has but all men have rough facial hair for the most part.

I reccomend that he just gets a 4 or 5 blade razor and uses that. It's going to do a hell of a lot better job than any electric razor can do.

(if you want the best razor ever $500+)

How many times should you use a dispoible razor?

This may seem like a silly ?, I've been shaving since i was a teenager but no one ever told me the basics. I know how to shave now obviously, what I need to know is how many times do you use your razor before you put a new blade on? I have the shick quattro for women, with refill, but how many times can you use one blade?|||There is no set number- if you have thicker hair, it will wear the blade more quickly than someone that has fine hair, for example. Just use it until it starts to feel a bit "rough", then replace. With a good razor, you can get more shaves than you might guess.|||one of my friends uses it until it starts pulling. Personally I think that is not often enough|||Well , it all depends on how much you shave. If you shave it all , you may want to use a disposable razor only five times. However , if you only shave a acertain part of your body , you may even be able to get away with ten times or until the razor becomes dull. But , in order to get the closest , comfortable shave , I wouldn't exceed ten usuages with one razor.|||I would change it until it becomes dull or every six months, whichever comes first. Dull razors will give you ingrown hairs and every six months, it should be changed just because dead skin cells build up, bacteria clings to that, and if you cut yourself, it could be an issue. Always rinse your razors well, shake your razors dry, and keep them outside of the shower.|||Like twice

What's a good brand of safety razor to go with, and where exactly do I buy the replacement blades?

I want to start shaving with a double edged safety razor (yes the old school ones) and I was just wanting some advice on what might be either a really good or the best brand for one. Also, I wanted to know where I would get replacement blades for it, I think I have seen them at big box stores like wal-mart and target, I just want to know if those are type of blades I would use and if they are worth buying.|||Hi,

Some of the top safety razor brands are Merkur, Feather and Parker. Ask ten different wet shavers what the "best" razor is, and you'll probably get about ten different answers. The "best" one is the one *you* like. That said, if you are new to wet shaving with an old-school safety razor, then here are a few options you can't go wrong with.

1. Merkur 34C Heavy: I own this one and it is one of the "classics". It's in the $30 - $40 range depending on where you buy it. Online you can find it at amazon.com.

2. Merkur Progress adjustable: This is an adjustable safety razor. You can adjust the angle of the blade, this helps, especially when starting out. You can set the blade to a less aggressive angle which might help out a newbie.

3. Parker 22R: This is a nice, entry-level razor in the $20 range. It gets pretty good reviews at amazon and would make a nice first razor.

As far as razor blades, buy one of the variety packs from amazon.com. Then you can sample a bunch of different blades and find the one you like. Each face/beard is different. A blade someone else loves may not be right for you. Test a few out and you will eventually hit on one that works just right for your face.

Don't forget to get a good badger hair brush and some quality shaving soap. Here are a few can't miss options:

Badger brush: Tweezerman badger brush

Shaving soap: Proraso or Col. Conk's

Remember, when you start out, go *slow*. Take your time and enjoy the process!

How do I shave with a straight razor? Are there any benefits of doing this?

I have a very furry face and it grows back really quick. I also heard that a straight razor would get a closer shave, but takes some skill to use. I can't afford an electric razor and thought the straight razor would be an affordable alternative. Any advice?|||Learn from my mistake. Don't by those cheap disposable razors, they give you razor burn. Also, I have bought those really high end electric razors and they didn't work well for me. My experience with a straight razor is that it is nice and nostalgic the first two times, but then gets old.. it takes forever! You cant rush it that's for sure. The best I have used is as follows.

1. Get a $5 multiple blade razor and use hot water and shaving cream. Let the shaving cream sit for a few minutes before you start shaving. My face is a baby's bottom if I shave against the grain (i.e. from bottom to top) but some people get ingrown hairs that way, just go slow.

2. Get a low end electric razor, my preference is the lowest cost Norelco rotary and use an electric razor preshave to get a nice close shave.

All the best!

p.s. I used a battery powered electric all through college b/c who the heck has time to shave? Now that I am in the business world a close shave with a razor cant be beat. Plus rumor is it keeps you looking younger by taking of that dead skin.|||Thanks for voting mine the best! Here is benefits of straight.

1. A much closer shave that lasts longer.

2. A very durable razor.

3. Less likely to "slip" and cut yourself.

4. More affordable over time.

5. Razor can be sharpened again and again, giving you a close, fresh shave every time

What is the best product for preventing razor bumps?

I shave and get razor bumps and ingrown hairs. Is there a product that works that can prevent this from happening, I do use shaving cream but that is not helping so any suggestions. Also, I am dark complected and it is darker underneath my pits is there any product that can smooth or reduce the appearance besides skin bleach?|||Tend skin is a product designed for exactly your concerns, you can buy it online on amazon's website, or from sephora. I've had people tell me it's a miracle. You can also exfoliate with a loofa and a creamy body wash (like dove cream oil, or caress exotic infusions) before shaving. As well a creamy body wash worked well into the skin can work very well as a shaving cream and protect the skin a little more than a regular shaving cream.|||I got a sample of something called "Tend Skin" once and that worked pretty well. I know they have it a sephora or sephora.com.I get razor burn without shaving cream and sometimes with it if I press too hard.

Sorry but I do not know the answer to the second part of your question.

Whats a good electric razor to use to prevent acne?

Shaving cream and manual razors irritate my skin and I always seem to break out aftwerwards. Can anyone recommend a good electric razor/brand to use to have a clearer complexion? If so, how much does it cost?|||it depends, do you have straight or curly hair? Where is most of the irritation located? There are several different types of acne, but the most common associated with shaving is known as follicilitus.

I'll take an educated guess that your razor is shaving really close to your skin. One way to decrease the amount of irritation is to remember to keep your neck normal when you shave there, and not to shave with your neck extended. Shaving with your neck extended actually hyper-extends the hair so that you cut real close, but the side effect is that when the skin folds back regularly the sharp end of the cut-hair jabs into the inside of your skin, causing irration and bumps.

If your a curly haired folk, then I recommend you use hair clippers to clip your hair, or a dipilatory like Magic Shave. Reason being, that you need to pull the hairs out at the root, because you would have hairs that are curling back into your skin.

Keep the parts of your face that you shave, free from bacteria as much as possible. Use natural cleansers, that are not overly aggressive towards your skin. Alcohols tend to add to the irritation. Though they will definately disinfect, they will irritate your skin more by drying it out. Then you'll have more problems.

I would definately focus on natural cleansers, and make sure that area is moisturized. Keep that skin healthy and treat it well, surprizingly it doesnt take much to have clear complexion, but you gotta know your skin. :)|||it is the shaving cream that is the problem. Try natural soap

How do you get rid of bad razor burn on your knees?

I just want to find a way to get rid of razor burn on the knees. Any ideas?|||:) Saw something about this on the Science Channel...just make sure you have enough cream on your knee and try to have the skin stretched so that there is smoother surface. Also if your using a cream and its not applying well try and use one of those gels.

Good luck. :)|||use more shower/shaving gel on your knees the next time you shave, that always does it for me...and the razor burn just disappears after using more shower gel for a while.|||You are either shaving your knees or giving blow jobs....stop doing both.|||If you don't shave in the shower, I suggest letting a warm washcloth set on your knees for a few minutes prior to shaving. Then shave in a downward motion instead of up. Then put lotion on your knees before they finish drying. Or, instead of using shaving cream/gels, use regular body wash and a poof to get rid of some of the dead cell which can create a build up making it easier to get razor burn. Leave the lathered soap on your legs and shave it off.

How often should I charge my electric razor?

I just bought a Remington DA 307 electric razor. However it dosn't have a low battery light and the manual dosn't tell me how often I should charge it. So if anyone knows from experience please tell me how often I should be charging it?|||Charge it when the batteries are low (it begins to bog down). The rechargeable batteries in it are probably nickel-cadnium, which means they'll develop a "discharge memory". This is where you discharge the batteries to, say, 50% of their full discharge and over time the batteries will only hold a charge for that long. If you always let them discharge all the way to where they won't operate the razor any more, the next discharge will last as long as it's supposed to.

If you do get the batteries into a short discharge cycle, you can restore the long discharge cycle by giving the razor a few full discharge cycles. Turn the razor on and let it run until it just quits completely. Then give it a full charge (at least 16 hours). Then completely discharge it again. So this a few times and it restors the batteries' discharge "memory".

What is the difference between mens electric razor and womens?

I want the one that cuts as closest to the skin as possible. Would that be mens or womens electric razor?|||I think that some razors are specially designed for men for their rough and rugged skin and the blade of the tweezers is also somewhat more sharp. It all depends on thickness of the root of your hair. Since men have more facial hairs than women they prefer shaving them off and it is generally believed that shaving makes ones skin a bit rough and uneven (women would definitely not want this to happen!). whereas women have other options like waxing and hair removal creams so they rarely opt for razors and electric shavers. So electric shavers for men are not a bad option.

How do you get rid of underarm razor bumps and stubble?

I feel like no matter what I do, I always have underarm stubble and razor bumps . Any tips?|||Ingrow Go by Skin Doctors is really great. http://www.skindoctors.com.au/Ingrow-Go.鈥?/a>|||By not shaving.

Regardless of how clean or sharp the razor is, there will ALWAYS be stubble, and razor bumps are a given.

I personally epilate my underarm area, but you can also wax. They both work by pulling the hair out at the root, and usually leads to being hairless for longer. There is also no stubble, as the hair is not cut at an angle like with shaving.

My body hair grows back REALLY fast, so when I would shave my underarms, it would start growing back that night. With epilating, I can easily go 4 days or longer without noticing any new growth, other than some fine white baby hairs (which usually don't get pulled out at the root because they are too fine).

EDIT: I disagree with Joey down there. When I used to shave, I NEVER used shaving cream because it would wash off in the shower. However, my armpits were always gross because of this, as there wasn't a "buffer" between the sharp blades and my delicate skin. Also, shaving more often will just lead to more raw, red, dry, bumpy skin.|||Dont use shaving cream... Using creams and really sharp razors provide a closer shave, but they also cut the hair follicles too close to the skin and cause bumps. So shave using water instead. You might have to shave more often to keep the stubble down, put that's better than ugly pits.

Skin also heals a lot better when it's wet, so keep your legs moisturized. Use a thick lotion as opposed to a runny one. Thanks to cultural benchmarks of cleanliness and appearance, men and women frequently do not go about their daily lives with disheveled body hair sprouting from their bodies.

Shaving is viewed as an annoyance because of the periodic appearance of razor bumps and razor burn.

We all are familiar with the routine of the early morning shave. Almost 90% of men prefer shaving every day. When added all up, the common man will spend the equivalent of 30 days of his life shaving.

Whether it is men shaving their heads or women with their armpits, we all dislike the whole method of shaving. The emergence of razor burns has most often been cited as the main reason people hate shaving. Shavers bumps form very frequently due to a number of different reasons.

Razor Bumps When hair is cut, the shaft can occasionally grow back in at an off angle. These inflammations are referred to as ingrown hairs and can induce irritation and pus.

Trapped hairs trigger inflammation which result in the body forming a papule. The raised bumps on the skin is the root for the term 'razor bumps'.

Why the hair returns in at an angle has always been up for discussion and fervid medical scrutiny. Natural oils and outside environmental factors can block hair follicles, making the hair divert its route to the skin.

The increase of dead skin cells in a hair follicle can also be a component in the materialization of ingrown hairs. Impeding the hairs exit can make it search for another way out through a different follicle.

Ingrown Hairs A few hair shafts are curly. Curved hair strands do not always need to be impeded to grow in at an angle. The natural curvature of the strand will point the tip in the wrong direction, causing it to infect the skin cells around the follicle.

Shaving can destroy skin cells which then inflame the hair follicle and make blockages more common. We all want a clear complexion, not an adverse reaction to shaving.

Shaving is a necessity in today's world. Slovenly facial hair and body hair is frowned upon by society. With shaving, there come side effects. Razor burn and razor bumps can be cured with the daily application of a shaver bump removal ingredient produced by a unique source. The serum negates bacteria on the skin and inside follicles, while also stimulating cellular growth inside the follicle.
