How much will razor combing affect my hair?

I have thick, wavy hair and when I wear it down, it looks good for a few hours, but after that the thickness gets the best of it and it starts to poof out. I want to have my hair thinned, but would razor combing it do the job well, or should I just stick to layers?|||I have the same problem! My friend razor combs her hair and it looks nice. I've heard that it can give you split ends faster, but if you regularly get your hair cut it shouldn't be much of a problem. Have you tried thinning scissors? You could just stick to layers and invest in some thinning scissors. If you do that, be careful with how much you thin!
